Organic content isn’t really working anymore…
If you started your online business 5-10 years ago, then you know that there was a time when you could just post good sh*t on social media and you could get a lot of traction. Unfortunately, that’s not the case these days. It’s really noisy online and it’s getting harder and harder to stand out.
But here’s what I want you to know: the problem is not that your content sucks. (that feels good to hear, right?) the problem is that if you are promoting your business on social media, your visibility is SUPER LOW. That’s not something I can help you with. It’s just the facts. In 2018, Facebook made some changes to their platforms (both Facebook and Instagram) that make it hard to get visible as a business because they want you to “pay to play.”
So, if you’ve been creating all this content and not getting much engagement, that’s why. This means that you have to be willing to pay to get that visibility you used to be able to get for free. Kinda sucks, but it is what it is. What I’m trying to do is make you feel a little bit better if not many people are liking or engaging with your posts and also let you know what you can do about it. It’s time to consider running Facebook and/or Instagram ads so you can get more visible.
This doesn’t mean you can’t use organic marketing anymore; it simply means that you need to invest in getting more eyes on the content you do create. Is your business ready for paid ads?
