Do Facebook + Instagram ads even work?

It’s funny. I get asked this question all the time. The simple answer is yes, absolutely. As a matter of fact, with each passing year, the ad spend on Meta’s platforms (both Facebook + Instagram) continues to grow.

If ads weren’t working, people wouldn’t continue to spend money on them and they wouldn’t be increasing their budgets for ads. So, if the ad spend continues to increase on both platforms, that’s a pretty good indicator that yes, ads do work.

But don’t just take my word for it. Below is a chart related to annual ad spend in the United States in billions of dollars.

Statistics and charts collected from Statista.com

Ad spending in the Social Media Advertising market is projected to reach US$76.4billion in 2024.

  • Ad spending is expected to show an annual growth rate (CAGR 2024-2028) of 3.62%, resulting in a projected market volume of US$88.1billion by 2028.

  • In global comparison, most ad spending will be generated in the United States (US$76,400m in 2024).

  • In the Social Media Advertising market, US$88.1bn of total ad spending will be generated through mobile in 2028.

  • In the Social Media Advertising market, the number of users is expected to amount to 331.4m users by 2028.

So if you think it’s too late to get started with ads or if you think that ads no longer work, that could not be farther from the truth.
