You can’t take likes + followers to the bank...

When it comes to my business, I’ve never really been that concerned about likes + followers. Sure, getting likes and followers can make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside, but at the end of the day, if the people who like your content and follow your account aren’t going to ever buy from you, what’s the point? Plus, it’s not like you can take likes and followers to the bank, you know what I mean?

What I try focusing on instead of “vanity metrics” is getting more of my ideal clients into my world, over to my website and into my programs. Sometimes my clients follow me, sometimes they don’t. I don’t really care. If I am able to get and serve clients without having to put a ton of pressure on myself to have a ton of followers or get people to like my content, I’m happy with that.

Worrying about number of followers causes you to focus your attention in the wrong places. Also, you start to compare yourself to others, and that is never a good thing. You might see a competitor with a huge following and start to feel inadequate. But what if the majority of those who follow your competitor, never buy from them. They just have a large following but that’s not necessarily translating to them making a lot of money.

Wouldn’t you rather have a small to medium size following of people who are actually a goof fit for what you offer? Something to think about. If you’re trying to build a business, than you need to make money. So stop focusing on comparison or vanity metrics and start trying to reach those people that you can best serve.
